Probably not many people know that Katty Fuentes, who was Miss Mexico 1997, is one of the most awarded queens in Beauty contests.

Katty Fuentes born in Monterrey Nuevo Leon under Virgo zodiac sign, she worked as a hostess in several events and as a model for her, oldest sister who is a bathing suit designer.

Rosina Ramon , owner of an important model agency in Monterrey, discovered her in a private event and invited her to take part in Our Beauty New Leon but not without warning her that she had to loose from 8 to 9 kilos in order to enter to the contest.

Achieving her objective, Katty managed to be placed as a strong favourite in the state´s Beauty contest, being her strongest rival beautiful Silvia Salgado Cavazos, who 2 weeks before the final, resigned for personal reasons (but one year later she would curiously become her successor). With the road free, Katty won in the contest obtaining not only first place but also the Miss Photogenic award.

At the national contest in Acapulco, Katty obtained the best skin award by Hinds and again won the title of Miss Photogenic. While the judges selected the new Miss World Mexico Katty held the third place being Felicidad Aveleyra from Mexico City and Blanca Soto from Morelos her strongest rivals. At last, Katty crowned herself Miss Mexico over the candidates mentioned above and obtained the right to represent Mexico in Miss Universe.

In Miss Universe, she won third place in typical suit and the Clairol Herbal Essence Award of style and personality;. Her roommate was Miss Chile with whom she had a great friendship and her night gown was designed by her mother. Later she took part in Miss Atlántic International where she won the award of Miss Elegance. After crowning her sucessor, she got married and became the image of an important cosmetics company , which took her to Japan, later she moved to Dallas, Texas, where she lives nowadays with her husband and son.
