Cecilia Bolocco from Chile conquered for the first time a Miss Universe crown for her country in Singapore on May 26 1987.

The semifinalists were Roberta Capua from Italy, Michelle Renee Royer from USA, Inés María Calero Rodríguez from Venezuela, Laurie Tamara Simpson from Puerto Rico, Jessica Patricia Newton Sáez from Peru, Geraldine Villaruz Asis from Phillipines, Marion Nicole Teo from Singapore, Susanne Karin Thoerngren from Sweden,and Carmelita Louise Ariza de Turks & Caicos, the pageant was held in World Trade Center Building of Singapore.
