The beautiful Margaret Gardiner, from South Africa, the first and only Miss Universe from that country, was crowned in Acapulco Mexico, her crowning caused controversy, because a Miss Universe from a country known as the most racist in the world, in that period, was crowned by a black woman!!! It was a great lesson for that generation, wasn’t?
