Marisol Malaret
Marisol Malaret Contreras gave to Puerto Rico the first title of Miss Universe on July 23rd in Miami Beach Auditorium in Miami, Florida (the current Jackie Gleason Theather). Marisol’s triumph change her live totally as thousands of Puerto Ricans who celebrated the triumph. With 20 years old Marisol competed with 69 contenders from the whole world. Although the favourite was Miss USA Debbie Shelton, a specialist jury coming from Japan, England and Brazil gave the triumph to the Puerto Rican and the first international crown for the Island of Enchanting.
The news were received with enjoy and happiness in Puerto Rico, the next day Marisol’s triumph she returned to her country and received a very warm welcome, she was acclaimed from the very beginning when she took off at International airport to the city where she was received by President Luis A. Ferre.
Marisol showed off her Latin beauty throughout the world, 36 years later Puerto Rico and the world remember her as one of the most beautiful and special Miss Universe.
When she finish her reign as Miss Universe made several movies and TV shows, she was director also of Puerto Rican Magazine “Imagen” and years later she fund her own Maganize called “Caras de Puerto Rico” where she appeared in its first edition. He has participated in several publish campaigns and nowadays she
is host for 2 tvshows in Puerto Rico.
